One Finished Gansey

I sewed the zipper in last night (by hand--I've tried machine-sewing zippers in but they never come out well enough) so C's hiking gansey is officially complete. It's still pending the Great Try-On, but I am crossing my fingers that it will fit. The Satakieli did well in blocking (I wet-blocked it) and the top portion that was originally pulling in stretched out well.

Final details: pattern, my own, using EPS & the "Swedish Block Pattern" from Barbara Walker; 5 skeins Satakieli from Schoolhouse Press on size 2 (stockinette portions) and 1 (pattern areas)

For some mindless knitting I've started some socks using Knitpicks "Dancing" and trying Lucy Neatby's Bosnian square toe, which was a fun way to begin a sock. Pereline pictures to come. In the interim, here's Scooter wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving weekend.

Hot Knitting

I'm trying to figure out what knitting I can take on our trip to Thailand. I'm thinking a shawl, since it would be small and light. This is amazing and I have the perfect person in mind for it, although the cream would be better suited for her and I'm not sure how clean I can keep the cream while travelling and knitting with sweaty fingers. Although the silk/wool blend seems like it would work well there. So, maybe another of Blackberry Ridge's shawls, in a mixed colorway?

Two down, one to go...

C's hiking gansey is finished! For kicks, here's how much wool I had left over... I'll post a full photo after it's blocked.

The pereline is also complete. It's a beautiful fall day today, so the plan is to get a photo of it against the fall leaves. The plan also involves rebuilding the front porch steps this weekend. And read Harry Potter #6.

So what's next? To finish my sister's Christmas sweater from last year. At least she's forgiving! As she said, it's like the quilt she made for C and I, which was delivered two years after the gifting. Better late than never!
